Building Christs Kingdom

Advent Family Night

Four years ago, two women from Sandy Hill had a vision for a family-oriented event that would bring Sandy Hill Community Church, Sandy Hill Preschool, and the surrounding community together to celebrate the Christ of Christmas.  /files/Dale's Folder/Image Folder/IMG_2938.JPGIn a time when Christmas so easily turns into a mad rush to get everything done...Parties...Presents...School Concerts...  etc...etc., they wanted to have something that families could do together to honor the meaning of Christmas.  And so, Advent Family Night was born.

Advent Family Night is usually the first Friday evening in December and runs for 2 ½ hours.  What do we do at this event?  I'm glad you asked.  Well...there's a dinner in which everyone eats together, there are crafts and games planned that children and adults can do together, there is Christmas carol singing that includes all ages and focuses on Jesus, some of the children from Sandy Hill Preschool perform Christmas songs, and there is a story time to warm the heart and remind everyone why they love Christmas.  All of these things have become part of this really fun event that our church family has grown to love.

The first year, we hosted a humble gathering of less than a hundred.  Since then it has grown to more than three hundred in attendance and counting.  But /files/Dale's Folder/Image Folder/IMG_3009.JPGas it grows, our desire is that Advent Family Night always upholds its original vision...for families to come together and celebrate the Christ of Christmas.  Through that basic vision, we hope that people who attend Advent Family Night will get a beautiful glimpse at the Savior who came to the earth.  Joy to the World!  We sincerely hope to see  you there this year!  The event will be listed on this Website, on the master calendar.  Details about Advent Family Night 2008 will be coming in the Fall.
